The Magic of Calendula
I love Calendula, the flowers are so cute and they have a soft flowery smell. If you are into growing and planting they are a fun one to grow!
A lot of my Calendula plants survive through the winter and I always find dozens of brand new plants that pop up in the Spring that I dig up and replant in other places.
This post is to talk about Calendula Herbal oil specifically.
It is extracted from marigold flowers (Calendula officinalis). It's made by infusing the flowers in a carrier oil such as Olive oil.
It’s often used as a natural alternative treatment in products like ointments, creams, salves, teas, capsules or tinctures.
It can be beneficial for any kind of wound healing including insect bites, bruises, blisters, cuts, burns and cold sores.
Topical application of Calendula is used to keep wounds clean and help new tissue to grow. It has been used often to help poorly healing wounds; ones that are exhibiting signs of tenderness, redness, or inflammation.
This magical flowers healing properties are in my First Aid balm for good reason!Calendula is also effective in treating minor burns, including sunburns. It can even help with sun protection and can be added to sunscreens.
Calendula products may be applied to wounds to reduce swelling and their antimicrobial components, specifically their antifungal agents, can prevent secondary infection.
All of these qualities can help your skin heal at a faster rate while also preventing infections and scarring.
It's most famous super power is its ability as an anti-inflammatory. This flower is known for aiding with not only minor skin conditions but also more major ones like eczema, rosacea, acne, rashes (diaper rash), and so on.
The oil from Calendula can help relieve so many kinds of skin issues such as itchy or irritated areas. It can even help dermatitis and dandruff.
I have Calendula in a specially crafted butter I make, Purify, for inflamed skin because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Calendula promotes the production of collagen while also sustaining and soothed and hydrated skin. Calendula can even help in the slowing of those dreaded wrinkles.
You can find things like teas, tinctures, and capsules with Calendula, which can help aid with digestive issues and even ulcers.
It can even help boost your immune system to fight off viral infections. This is because it is considered an antibacterial.
All in all this flower is not only a beautiful addition to your garden, that is a super easy plant to take care of and grow, but the healing qualities of the plant are superior and a must have in the medicine cabinet. If you would like to see what other products I make you can check out my website:
